Course Description

The construction industry has always required efficient technical and financial project administrators to ensure that projects must run efficiently on all fronts. This requires managers to be able to plan, execute, and supervise jobs with professional skill in areas where each new technological advance creates a need for new techniques, methods and equipment. The course aims to prepare the participants for future roles in managing people, equipment, materials, technological processes and funds in the construction, building and maintenance of buildings and assets in the civil infrastructure through advanced management and engineering techniques in the fields of construction, building and maintenance.

Learning Outcomes

  • Know the impact of low job site productivity on the project contractor, craftsperson, project owner and designer
  • Identify practices to ensure each worker is part of the overall project team
  • Analyze models to measure, predict and improve job site productivity
  • Identify environmental factors that impact productivity
  • Describe how to apply short interval schedules and job schedules to increase field productivity
  • Develop a work plan to increase field productivity

Teaching Methods

The course will utilize lectures with presentations and interactive class discussion. Trainees will also be encouraged to brainstorm ideas during seat works/activities.
